I’m deeply passionate about body art and have visited many tattoo studios, but there’s something truly special about Medellín. This city breathes art, creativity, and transformation. What was once seen as taboo is now a powerful and respected form of expression. Medellín didn’t just win me over with its culture and people—it earned a permanent place on my skin.
In recent years, the tattoo industry in Medellín has grown immensely. Today, I can proudly say that some of the best tattoo artists in Colombia are based here. And if you’re thinking about getting inked while visiting, let me guide you through this tattoo trail with the studios and artists that, in my opinion, are making history.
This was one of the first studios I visited, and it’s remained one of my all-time favorites. At Octopus Tattoo Studio, you’ll find artists with over 15 years of experience—and it shows.
What I love most about this place is their obsession with detail, precision, and masterful use of color.
Cindy Octopus has an almost magical talent in her hands. Her colorful pieces are so vibrant, they look alive.
Adrián Higuita, on the other hand, is a master of fine lines and high-detail tattoos.
If you’re looking for a tattoo with flawless technique and a whole lot of soul, this is the place.
Luine de Natureza is, quite simply, an artist. Every time I see her work, it feels like I’m looking at a living painting. Her studio, Natureza Tattoo, welcomes you with a warm, calm, and professional atmosphere.
What impresses me most is her ability to work with color and gradients. If you love art with a personal, poetic, and emotional touch, you have to check her out. Get inked by Luine, and you’ll understand why she has such a loyal fan base.
3. Lucas Botero at Angrymom Tattoo: Realism, Contrast, and Power
Lucas Botero is one of those artists you see once and never forget. He works at the renowned Angrymom Tattoo Studio, and his style blends modern realism with powerful contrasts that take your breath away.
I’ve seen everything from realistic portraits to classic tattoos with a bold twist in his portfolio. His control of color and composition is unmatched. If you want a tattoo that makes a bold statement, Lucas is the one.
Santiago, better known as Santatto, is on another level. Honestly, his black and grey tattoos look like photographs.
The level of realism he achieves in each piece is surgically precise. Watching him work is like watching a Renaissance painter bring a canvas to life—only on skin.
If you’re into black and grey, textures, contrast, and emotionally rich portraits, Santatto will not disappoint.
Some days, you know you want a tattoo—but you’re not sure exactly what. That’s where Sailors and Mermaids Tattoo Studio comes in. This place is like a playground for tattoo lovers.
They have artists who specialize in everything from realism to old school, traditional, neo-traditional, and beyond. What I love most is that they don’t just create great tattoos—they offer an incredible customer experience. You feel like part of the family the moment you walk in the door.
Getting a tattoo in Medellín isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about living a one-of-a-kind experience in a vibrant, creative, ever-evolving city. For me, each tattoo I’ve gotten here represents moments, emotions, and a deep connection with this city I truly love.
If you're thinking about getting inked during your trip to Colombia, don’t hesitate. Medellín is the place, and these artists are the ones who can turn your idea into something unforgettable
Feel free to message me if you want more recommendations, help getting in touch with any of these studios, or if you just want to share your experience.
See you at the next ink session!
